Shaun To Be Wild fund seeks £60k to bring children closer to nature at Folly Farm
Shaun the Sheep is to be the mascot for a new fund-raising appeal that will help Avon Wildlife Trust to turn its Folly Farm nature reserve into a place of discovery and learning for children, schools and families.
Shaun the Sheep himself was among the guests when the Shaun To Be Wild Appeal was launched on Thursday 6 March at the 250-acre wildlife haven, near to Bath and Bristol, where a unique environmental learning and visitor centre is under construction.
Money raised by the appeal will be used to equip Folly Farm to deliver a broad programme of events and experiences for children of all ages and to kit them out with learning aids - from magnifying glasses, binoculars, arts materials and pond-dippers to film cameras, computer-ware and an all-terrain mobility scooter which will make the flagship reserve accessible to children with disabilities.
Backing for the appeal has already been pledged by the Western Daily Press newspaper. It will be running regular features about Folly Farm and promoting the Shaun To Be Wild Appeal via its print and online editions.
Donations to the appeal can be made online via http://www.westerndailypress.co.uk/shaun or http://www.avonwildlifetrust.org.uk/follyfarm or by sending a cheque/postal order (made out to: Shaun To Be Wild Appeal) to Avon Wildlife Trust, FREEPOST (BS6104) Bristol BS8 1YR. If a receipt is needed, please include a contact name and address.
